Who can join Unil’AMHE?
Anyone interested by one or more of our activities. You do not need to be a member of the university of Lausanne.
Should I pay a membership fee?
All members of Unil’AHME have to pay a yearly membership fee. Members of other HEMA groups benefit from a deduction.

- One term only: 80.- CHF
- Reduced fee: 40.- CHF
What do we do?
We wish to contribute to the development of the Historical European Martial Arts through several activities:
- Academic research: reading and writing articles to develop our knowlege on the sources and practice of HEMA.
- Weekly practice: experiment and train through the interpretation of the sources.
Do I need some equipment for the training?
It is not mandatory to have its own equipment: simple clothing for indoor sport is enough. The association will lend the necessary equipment. We do encourage the members to invest in their equipment for confort.
Do I need to be in good physical condition for the trainings?
The trainings are open to everyone, and everyone can follow as much as they can. A minimum of coordination is required, especially at the beginning. We do encourage sparring.
Should I have studied history, archeology or philology to understand the sources?
You do not need to be an expert in any of these branches to participate. The sources are accompanied by secondary litterature. Depending on your interestm our instructors can guide you in more or less details in the comprehension of the sources.
